Smile Makeovers
A smile makeover is the dental equivalent of renovating a kitchen — a coordinated plan that combines multiple treatments to achieve a result no single procedure could. We design the result first, then sequence the work to get there.
Why it matters
Benefits
- Transformative result that single procedures can't achieve alone.
- Custom plan built around your goals, budget, and timeline.
- Coordinated sequencing — no doing work that gets redone later.
- All treatments done in-house — no juggling multiple offices.
- Honest scoping — sometimes less work achieves the same result.
What to expect
The process
- 01
Smile consultation
We talk about what you'd like to change, look at reference photos if you have them, and identify what's actually needed to get there. This conversation is the most important step — getting it right means everything downstream works.
- 02
Digital design and preview
We mock up your future smile digitally, and often physically (a temporary mock-up bonded to your existing teeth) so you can see and feel it before any treatment starts.
- 03
Treatment plan and quote
You get a complete written plan with the sequence of treatments, a realistic timeline, and a complete cost breakdown. No surprises, no scope creep.
- 04
Treatment execution
Treatments are sequenced so each one builds on the last. Often: alignment first (if needed), then whitening, then veneers or crowns last (so they match the brightened shade).
- 05
Final review
Once everything's done, we check fit, function, and aesthetics. Small adjustments are normal — we don't consider the work complete until you're confident in the result.
What a smile makeover actually is
The term “smile makeover” sounds like marketing fluff, but it’s a useful clinical category. It refers to any case where multiple treatments are coordinated toward a single aesthetic outcome — instead of fixing one tooth at a time without a plan.
The reason it matters: doing dentistry piecemeal can lead to a smile where each individual element is technically fine but the overall result isn’t what you wanted. A planned makeover designs the destination first and works backwards.
Common starting points
People come in for a makeover from very different places:
- “I’ve never liked my smile.” Lifelong concerns about colour, shape, gaps, or alignment.
- “I’ve been told I need crowns on my front teeth — can we make them look better than the originals?” A common moment to consider aesthetics alongside necessity.
- “I had braces years ago but my teeth have shifted, and there are some chips I never fixed.” Cumulative wear plus relapse.
- “I want a major change before [wedding / reunion / move / new role].” Event-driven motivation, which can work great with the right timeline.
What goes into the design
A good makeover plan considers more than just “make the teeth white and straight”:
- Tooth shape and proportion. Healthy smiles have specific length-to-width ratios per tooth. Veneers that ignore these look fake.
- Gum line. The frame around the teeth matters. Uneven gums can make even perfect teeth look off. We sometimes recommend gum contouring.
- Lip line. How much tooth shows when you smile and talk shapes which teeth need to look their best.
- Skin tone. What looks like a “bright white” smile on one person can look chalky on another. Shade is custom.
- Functional bite. Aesthetic work must coexist with normal chewing. We don’t design pretty teeth that can’t bite properly.
What makes our smile-makeover work different
- One team, one plan, one location. No juggling offices. No “I’ll send you to my orthodontist friend for that part.”
- Honest scoping. The bare minimum that achieves your goal — not the maximum we can sell.
- Preview before commit. You see and feel the plan before any major irreversible work.
- Sequencing that makes sense. Whitening before veneers (so they match the brighter shade), alignment before final restorations (so we’re not crowning crooked teeth), and so on.

FAQ
Questions we hear most often
- What's typically included in a smile makeover?
- It varies by case. Common components: teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, clear aligners or Invisalign, dental crowns or CEREC restorations, gum contouring (in some cases), and replacement of old fillings or worn restorations. We design the smallest combination that achieves your goal — not the maximum upsell.
- How much does a smile makeover cost in Calgary?
- Wide range — from a few thousand for whitening + minor bonding, to $20,000+ for a comprehensive case with veneers and orthodontics. We provide a complete written quote at your consultation, broken down by procedure. Financing options are available.
- How long does the whole process take?
- Simple cases (whitening + bonding) can finish in 2–3 weeks. Cases involving orthodontics or implants can take 6–12 months. We'll give you a realistic timeline at your consultation.
- Can I see the result before committing?
- Yes — this is one of the things we insist on. We design the result digitally first, and for cases involving veneers, we usually mock it up physically on your teeth so you can see and feel what's coming. No major irreversible work happens until you've signed off on the preview.
- Do you push treatments I don't need?
- No. Some Calgary cosmetic clinics default to 'veneers for everyone' because the margins are good. We don't operate that way. If whitening + a small bit of bonding achieves your goal for one-tenth the cost, that's what we recommend.
- How long do the results last?
- Depends on the components. Veneers commonly last 15–20+ years. CEREC crowns 15+ years. Whitening fades over 1–3 years and is easy to touch up. Orthodontic results are permanent with retainer wear. We design the makeover to age well, not just look good on day one.
